New heat-treated products from Tarkett Wood
The Modern Home and Classic Touch collections have been enlarged by a range of heat-treated floors. The difference from an ordinary wooden floor is first and foremost the look.
Heat-treatment is a relatively new way of processing wood. The most eye-catching effect is the darkened colour of the wear layer, but heat-treatment is in fact much more than that. During the processing the wood for the wear layer is exposed to temperatures of 200 degrees or more for approximately 24 hours. This has a rather significant impact on the natural properties of the wood. The protection against rot and fungi is also improved due to the fact that the natural sugars in the wood are broken up in a form that prevents such corrosive attacks.
The heat-treated floors can even be re-sanded up to several times without losing their exotic colours. |
