New heat-treated products from Tarkett Wood

The Modern Home and Classic Touch collections have been enlarged by a range of heat-treated floors. The difference from an ordinary wooden floor is first and foremost the look.

By heating up light and well-known wood species like birch, ash and oak the colour is darkened and gives the wood a completely different exiting edge of exotic darkness. This classic dark wooden floor will make a great contrast to the light and airy setting of most modern homes.

Heat-treatment is a relatively new way of processing wood. The most eye-catching effect is the darkened colour of the wear layer, but heat-treatment is in fact much more than that.

During the processing the wood for the wear layer is exposed to temperatures of 200 degrees or more for approximately 24 hours. This has a rather significant impact on the natural properties of the wood. The protection against rot and fungi is also improved due to the fact that the natural sugars in the wood are broken up in a form that prevents such corrosive attacks.

You can even look upon the heat-treated products as an ecological alternative to tropical wood species. You can have the beautiful brown colour without interfering with the fragile eco system of the rain forest. The number of good reasons for buying a heat-treated floor is thus great.

The heat-treated floors can even be re-sanded up to several times without losing their exotic colours.
